"Helping Others Achieve Success!"

Who We Are:

We are The Opportunity Center of Otero County. We began as an agency in  1958,  Our founding Mothers and Fathers served individuals of all ages with developmental disabilities. They accomplished this without any funding from the State of New Mexico.

In 1968, the group was reorganized: One agency was organized to provide services for the children with disabilities in Otero County (Zia Therapy). The other agency was organized to provide services to the adult population with disabilities in Otero County (The Opportunity Center). We continued as a non-profit agency.

In 1974, the State of New Mexico awarded the agency a contract and funding to provide these services. To date, The Opportunity Center continues to opperate as a non-profit community-based provider agency.
